Frank Morgan played by Alex Papps debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 17 January 1988 and appeared until 1989. Frank was the first character to appear, although a Police officer spoke the first piece of dialogue. Frank was played by Bradley Pilato in the scene, which was set in 1978 as a young Frank tries to escape from the Police officer. Papps also returned for guest appearances in 2000 and 2002 respectively.
Ash arrives in Summer Bay to stay with his friend Brax who he had met while in prison. He revealed an on-set "bromance" had formed with Peacocke, who acted as a mentor for Mason. When Brax becomes aggressive with his brother Kyle Braxton because of his bad experiences in prison; the Braxton family question whether Ash should be around Brax. New Zealand born George Mason had been residing in Melbourne when he secured an audition for the role. He was about to sign a long-term lease on a property in the city when he discovered he had been awarded the role.

Brax survives and convinces Ash to let everyone think that he is dead so his friends and family will be safe from Gunno. Denny eventually breaks up with Ash because of his lies and the dangerous choices he has makes. Ash and Phoebe have a fling when she and Kyle temporarily break up. Ash discovered that Phoebe is pregnant and he assumes he's the father. But Ash found out that Kyle's the father, causing a strain in his relationship with Phoebe and he breaks up with her. But they got back together and Ash tells Phoebe that he'll support the baby and will love the baby like his own.
Dannii Minogue originally auditioned for the role of Marilyn, but she was given the role of Emma Jackson and Emily Symons was cast as Marilyn instead. Holy Soap called her "bubbly" and a "Dizzy blonde beautician". Martha was introduced as Alf Stewart's first wife through a series of flashbacks.
Alf Stewart
Rona McLeod briefly took over the role when the character returned to the serial. In 2005 as a part of Alf's 60th birthday celebrations, Stephens reprised the role. In 2010, in a flashback to Alf's childhood, a young Barbara was portrayed by Charlie Wynne. The Davenports treated Lynn so badly that she was put into a children's home at the age of 10, where she befriended Sally . Both Lynn and Sally were fostered by Pippa and Tom Fletcher and the family move to Summer Bay. Lynn runs away from home after Eric, the family's pet dog dies after being poisoned.
Brett is unaware Josie is working to bring down his shady dealings and when he realises, he tries to kill her by shoving her off a cliff and he is arrested as a result. Narelle Smart played by Amanda Newman-Phillips, debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 25 March 1988. Colleen Smart, played by Lyn Collingwood, made her first appearance on 7 March 1988 and departed 23 May 2012. Colleen was introduced into the serial as a recurring character in 1988 until 1989. Colleen mainly served as a source of comic relief and acted as the busybody type character. Colleen was reintroduced again in 1999 with Collingwood reprising the role.
Frank Morgan
Complications develop with the birth and Marilyn is put under anaesthetic, so doctors can perform a cesarean. Lance thinks they are moving too fast and Marilyn tells him that she going on a date with his housemate, Martin Dibble instead. Marilyn dumps Lance and moves into a hotel, but Lance wins her back when he gets her a job at The Diner.
In 2000, Martin returns to town for Sally's abortive wedding to Kieran Fletcher , wearing a flash suit and driving a sports car. He claims to be the area manager of the car radio company Mobitune, but in fact he sleeps on the beach after telling everyone he is staying at the Sands Resort. Judith Ackroyd asks him to address a class as a successful ex-pupil and he annoys Donald by telling them not to bother with school because it had never done him any good. Ailsa realises Martin is hiding something and he admits he works for Mobitune as a technician and the car is hired. Martin offers Vinnie Patterson the job of New South Wales area manager, but manages to put him off by talking of the long hours and intensive training.
Willits was offered the role of Steven in 1987 .Willits described Steven's development as slow because he remained "a bit of a dork". Viv Newton, played by Mouche Phillips, made her first appearance in on 5 July 1989 and departed on 25 May 1990. Phillips was sharing a house with Justine Clarke and began filming the week after Clarke had left the serial Phillips told a writer from Look-in that she liked to be kept busy on set.
Months later, Alf calls Martha, but does not tell her why and soon hangs up on her. Martha comes to the Bay to ask him why he contacted her, but he tells her to go home. She admits that she loves him and Alf is short with her, but after catching Martha packing her bags, they agree to see where things go between them. When Martha struggles to contact Roo, who is teaching in a remote area, she panics and works herself into a state.
Alan arrives in Summer Bay much to the disapproval of his father Donald, as their relationship is strained. He makes a move on Bobby, much to her displeasure until she remembers who he is. Alan enrols in year twelve at Summer Bay High where his parents are teaching and Donald threatens to expel him should he misbehave. It soon emerges Alan's is suffering from a inoperable brain aneurysm that could cause a haemorrhage at any time.
She then attempts to persuade him to buy a new car for her and he does so, only it is a toy. Ric DalbyLance Smart is a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera Home and Away, played by Peter Vroom. Vroom appeared from the pilot episode as one of the serial's original characters. Lance is characterised a "slow witted" larrikin and those around him see him as a "joke".
Brett tries to apologise to Phillip but he refuses to accept his apology. Brett then contemplates suicide but is stopped by Jeff Samuels . Brett resurfaces when Martha, now 18 years old, tries to get in contact with him after rejecting an earlier attempt. Brett becomes involved with Josie romantically and professionally to develop a new resort on the Caravan Park.
